My Trip to New York

For three days during Winter Vacation, I lived the life of a New Yorker! That’s right. From December 20th to December 24th, 2009, I lived at the Park Central Hotel in downtown Manhattan. However, living in New York isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. The shopping there is great! That is, until you check your pockets and find nothing left. The people are nice…… in the hotel, at least. Well let’s look at the bright side. At least nobody swore at us! Wait a minute…. #%$! I guess they did At least getting there is fast! Let’s check the airline schedule. Hmmm………. CANCELLED?! *groan* Well let’s look at the bright side. At least nobody swore at us! Wait a minute…. #%$! I guess they did. Anyway, the Nintendo World store was pretty awesome.

Every second it got

Bigger

And

Bigger

And

Bigger

I looked around, my little mind taking it all in. Then; I made a frantic scramble to the Pokémon section. I was like a maniac, looking at this, and laughing maniacally at that. I felt like I was in heaven. That was, until I discovered there was another floor. Then I felt like I was floating, floating, in a Nintendo version of heaven. I ran upstairs, and took a look around. Woah! Is that the game boy that survived the Gulf War! Wow! Is that a free Mario game trial?!

The next day, we went to a really cool place called………. The one and only……….

Statue of Liberty!

Located on beautiful Ellis Island, it is a national symbol of freedom. It was beautiful! Copper that’s turned green looks good, too! We caught the ferry by mere seconds, but it was worth it, ‘cause now I can say I’ve seen liberty without lying! It was incredible, knowing that millions before have seen the statue on their way to freedom. It was an awe-inspiring trip.

The last day of our trip great as well! We went to the Intrepid Air and Space Museum, a GIGANTIC floating aircraft carrier that served in WWll. The ship is accompanied by a Growler submarine, and a Concorde, the fastest commercial plane in existence. Inside the aircraft carrier, my sister and I played a flight simulator (my sister freaked out when we turned upside down) and I climbed a giant net. In the submarine, we saw a nuclear missile, and the incredibly squished living areas. And the Concorde, on the inside was like that of a normal commercial plane. It was hard to imagine that the plane had broken the sound barrier.

On the last day, as our hotel disappeared from my sight while we were leaving New York, I thought: I Love New York
